Mapperley Art Award

Joan Mapperley Art Award

 

In 2018 Joan Mapperley, a key figure in the Overstrand community, sadly passed away.

 

She kindly left a legacy to Overstrand Together, which raises money to support entities within the village. Overstrand Together (the people of Overstrand) decided to use the money for the specific purpose of helping the Belfry school in some way.  It was agreed between the OT, the Mapperley family and the school that an annual art award should be funded (as well as the installation of an illuminated Christmas tree!) 

 

This Joan Mapperley Award, as it will be known, will be awarded to a pupil who has demonstrated artistic skill and a high level of application - both attributes that Joan herself displayed!

 

The inaugural award was announced on July 24th 2018!
