I am delighted to be teaching the year sixes in Oak Class again this year. As Year 6 is an important year for assessment, the learning expectation is incredibly high, which means that the children will need to work hard in the classroom. However, with hard work comes great rewards: Oak Class get to skateboard regularly and they are helping set up Forest School in the Calm Woods.
As the academic year rolls on, the children will be expected to achieve a level of learning that will prepare them for the challenges of high school. Support from home makes this much more achievable. It would help them if you could work with them to learn their spelling and times tables (right up to 12 x 12) and encourage them to read for 20 minutes a day.
Year 6 is an important transition year for children, if you have any concerns about your child and their learning, please let me know. The door is always open.
