In our school, collective worship is a key part of our daily life and plays an important role in the school’s spiritual and moral development. Each day, pupils and staff are invited to engage with collective worship in their own way, making it inclusive and through the week have the opportunity to reflect on the content and how it can impact their lives.
Each half term we focus on a different Christian Value, following a two-year rolling programme outlined below. The value we are focussing on for that half term inspires our choices of bible stories for our collective worship.
At the end of each week, we celebrate children’s achievements within the class setting as well as those who have been nominated by their class-mates for demonstrating the value.
| Autumn 1 | Autumn 2 | Spring 1 | Spring 2 | Summer 1 | Summer 2 |
Year A | Compassion | Perseverance | Friendship | Respect | Thankfulness | Service |
Year B | Compassion | Perseverance | Generosity | Courage | Trust Truthfulness | Forgiveness Justice |
In Spring 1, our value was friendship. We focussed on several Bible stories to help us gain a greater understanding of what friendship means and what it may look like in our own lives and how we can be good friends to those around us.
We have had a brilliant time with our visitors in school looking at some of the stories in more detail as well as key points of the Christian calendar. Open the Book, Governor Ruth and the Belfry Values Collective have led some of collective worship sessions this half term. The children (and staff) have all really enjoyed their visits and contributions. Have a look below:
