They can come to school dressed in their PE kit on these days.
Forest School
There is no forest school for Key Stage 1 this half term.
Children need wear: long trousers and a long-sleeved top, shoes that are not school shoes such as trainers, old hiking boots and they must have a pair of wellies, a water-proof coat
Please prepare for them to get muddy!
Children can come in their forest school clothes (see above) and please put any extra forest school clothes in a bag and bring them to school on Thursday mornings.
Phonics and Reading:
Year 1: We will be continuing to do Phonics every day and the children will be doing group reading twice a week and will be given a Little Wandle Phonics reading book each week which they will bring home. Please read with child at home to develop their phonic knowledge and fluency.
Year 2: Most of the Year 2 children will move on from phonics this year and therefore they will not have a Little Wandle Reading Phonics book, but will have a levelled Accelerated Reader book which will be changed once your child has read it 3 x a week and completed a short comprehension quiz.
Please can you try and hear your child read every night – just for 5 minutes if you can – as it does make such a difference.
Spellings:
The children will be given spellings every Friday and they will be given a spelling book to take home. Please try and help your child practice their spellings at home by writing them in their spelling book- they will have a spelling quiz every Friday.
We are all looking forward to a brilliant year in Larch class! If you have any questions or queries please do come and ask.
