Welcome from The Belfry Governors

The Belfry Governors

I would like to welcome you to The Belfry Governor’s page. My name is Alison Woodward and I am the Chair of Governors for The Belfry. I joined The Belfry Governing Board in September 2020, taking on the Chair’s role in September 2021. I have been a governor since 2016 in other Norfolk schools, I joined the governance county association, Norfolk Governance Network (NGN) board where I am now Vice Chair. Governance is a real privilege and important responsibility for me and one that I work hard to carry out to the best of my abilities. I have three children, one at University, one at College doing A-levels and my youngest is at High School.

Our Board is growing in strength, dedication and experience. Our Board meets once per half-term, currently all remote, we do not have any committees, so all of our governance duties are carried out at these meetings. Additionally, we visit the school to carry out monitoring duties, we also have remote meetings with school staff. We work closely with Mr Cotton and Miss Watts on many aspects of school life, in order to support all children and staff at The Belfry.

March 2023 update.

As you all know we are entering a partnership with Worstead Church of England Primary School, this is an exciting time for our school and one that will support both schools. For The Belfry, this means that once Mr Cotton and Miss Watts leave our school at the end of May, we will have a strong Executive Headteacher supporting our two schools. Mr Nick Read is already working alongside Mr Cotton and Miss Watts and myself and our governing board and wonderful staff. Additional leadership will be in place for June, so that we remain a strong good school, within our values and ethos, so that Belfry children continue to be happy and can learn in a safe and supportive school.

We will of course all miss working with Mr Cotton and Miss Watts, they have given so much to our school and their dedication and commitment will always be cherished.

Thank you for your continued support for our school.

Alison
